DETAILED PORTFOLIO REQUIREMENTS for art programs

Animation BA

A relevant portfolio is required.

Please upload your application materials to Google Drive (or any other file storage and synchronization service) and put the publicly accessible link to the ‘Portfolio’ section of your online application form.

Application materials:

  1. 1. A Portfolio which can include works belonging to the following genres:
  2. animated movies, spots, intros
  3. short animation tests, exercises, experiments (any animation technology can be used)
  4. character design, layout design, concept art
  5. storyboard, comic strips
  6. artworks belonging to any field of visual arts (drawings, paintings, computer graphics, sculptures, photos, movies, etc.)

IMPORTANT: Please attach a short description of your works. In case of teamwork or derivative works please mention your exact contribution to the project.

  1. 2. A short Letter of Motivation in which the applicant informs us about the reasons for choosing to study Animation at our institution.
  2. 3. A narrative Curriculum Vitae in which the applicant shows us their educational background and highlights the most important events of their life.
  3. 4. Please include a Statement of Ownership that verifies that all the materials included in the portfolio were created by you alone. In the case of collective work, please clearly indicate your personal contribution to the given project(s).

Every written material should be sent in PDF format.

ENVIRONMENTAL DESIGN BA

A relevant portfolio is required.

Please upload your application materials to Google Drive (or any other file storage and synchronization service) and put the publicly accessible link to the ‘Portfolio’ section of your online application form.

Application materials:

  1. 1. A Portfolio which must contain all of the following:
  2.  Free-hand or digital drawings representing some visual phenomenon (e.g. constellation of objects, a building or a part of a building, a spatial construction) – maximum 20 pictures
  3. Free-hand or digital sketches and mock-ups of abstractions for architectural, furniture or interior design concepts – maximum 5 pictures
  4. Free-hand drawings of a human figure, both full figure and portrait – minimum 1 of each

Optional: photos taken of some creative off-architecture works of art created by the applicant

  1. 2. A narrative Curriculum Vitae (at most 4000 characters) in which the applicant shows their educational background and highlights the most important events of their lives.

  4. deciding to study in Hungary and at our institution

FILM AND MEDIA STUDIES BA

A relevant portfolio is required.

Please upload your application materials to Google Drive (or any other file storage and synchronization service) and put the publicly accessible link to the ‘Portfolio’ section of your online application form.

Application materials:

1. An unlisted or public Youtube or Vimeo link (without a password) to a self-presentation film (no longer than two minutes) and a photo collection about yourself.

2. An unlisted or public Youtube or Vimeo link without password to a film which is one of your previous works (please give a short description of the project and specify your task – e.g. director, cinematographer, writer, editor) AND a link to a film made by you inspired by one of the following topics: encounters, loneliness, joy (no longer than three minutes).

3. A narrative Curriculum Vitae in which the applicant shows us their educational background and highlights the most important events of their life.

4. A short Letter of Motivation in which the applicant informs us about their educational background and the reasons for choosing to study Film and Media at our institution.

5. Please include a Statement of Ownership that verifies that all the materials included in the portfolio were created by you alone and write a few words about the works in the portfolio. In the case of collective work, please clearly indicate your personal contribution to the given project(s).*

GRAPHIC DESIGN BA

A relevant portfolio is required.

  1. 1. A sample of your autonomous artworks or graphic design works, both manual and digital is accepted. Every form of graphic design is welcomed: illustrations, layouts, logos, comics, CD and book covers, posters, typo-posters, packaging designs, brand identities, web designs, etc.

Every form of graphic art and all kinds of techniques are also welcome: graphic studies, computer graphics, manual drawings, sketches, aquarelles, collages, paintings, works made by printmaking techniques, etc.

Handmade originals have to be scanned and combined with digital works in one single PDF portfolio.

Please name the file as: Your name_graphicdesign_BA.pdf

GRAPHIC DESIGN MA

Design Culture BA

A relevant portfolio is required.

Portfolio requirements:

- A narrative Curriculum Vitae

- Motivation letter

- If the applicant has experience in the field of art or creative industries, they should submit information about this activity as well.

Visual Representation BA

Portfolio Requirements

The portfolio should include a curated selection of the applicant’s previous works. These samples of your autonomous artworks or graphic design works, both manual and digital are accepted. While projects primarily related to visual representation (illustrations, drawings, paintings, comics, sketches, collages, works made by printmaking techniques) are encouraged, other visual art pieces — such as graphics, posters, book designs, packaging designs, webdesigns, sculptures or photography — are also welcome.

The maximum number of the works in the portfolio is 25 pieces. Handmade originals have to be scanned and combined with digital works in one single PDF portfolio.

Please include a statement confirming that you alone have created all the material in the portfolio and a few words about the works in the portfolio, outlining the background and concept of each piece.

Creative Photography BA

A relevant portfolio is required.

1. Portfolio: Please select 10-15 pictures from your photos which represents your work best. Make a pdf presentation with the pictures. Please make a brief description of the separate series within the portfolio. It must include the title of the series and the reason for taking them. Furthermore, please include the name of your school and consultant if these were part of a school assignment. If you had anyone to assist you, please add the names of the contributors as well. (pdf file)

2. Photographic series: Create a photo series, with any chosen technique, on the given subject.

With the methods of staged or documentary photography illustrate a fictional or a non-fictional story.

- Extent: 6-12 images

- Picture size: 1200 pixels longer side

- File format: jpg or tif.

The applicants should also attach a maximum 1500 character long description on the main idea behind the series, on your thinking process, on why the particular visual style was chosen.

Please include a Statement that verifies that all the materials included in the portfolio were created by you alone, and write a few words about the works in the portfolio.

Media Design BA

A relevant portfolio is required.

The portfolio should showcase the applicant’s professional competencies. Submissions may include drawings, digital images, sound artworks, videos (up to 5 minutes), computer animations (up to 5 minutes), documentation of interactive objects or installations, websites, systems, offline/online games, and applications.

All works must be submitted digitally in commonly used formats (e.g., JPG, PNG, PDF, MP4, MOV, GIF, WAV, MP3, etc.). For works requiring specific formats or online links (games or apps), please include the necessary details.

Each submission should also include a brief technical and conceptual description to provide insight into the background and ideas behind the work.

Portfolio requirements:

The portfolio should showcase the applicant’s professional competencies. Submissions may include drawings, digital images, sound artworks, videos (up to 5 minutes), computer animations (up to 5 minutes), documentation of interactive objects or installations, websites, systems, offline/online games, and applications.

All works must be submitted digitally in commonly used formats (e.g., JPG, PNG, PDF, MP4, MOV, GIF, WAV, MP3, etc.). For works requiring specific formats or online links (games or apps), please include the necessary details.

Media Design MA

A relevant portfolio is required.

The portfolio should showcase the applicant’s professional competencies, featuring completed projects or conceptual work relevant to media design. Due to the complexity of the field, works related to various areas can be submitted. The selection may include interactive installations, audiovisual content (e.g., video, animation, sound design), graphic design projects, documentation of projection mapping events, computer games, 3D or 2D graphics, visual designs, web content, UX designs, applications for computers or mobile devices, descriptions of creative organizational activities.

All works should be submitted in commonly used digital formats (e.g., JPG, PNG, PDF, MP4, MOV, etc.) with a brief description of the concept, process, and background for each project.

Fashion and Textile Design MA

1. Create a portfolio, which best represents your work:

Samples of your previous fashion and textile design works, Every form of fashion and textiles design is welcomed: pattern and structure design, fashion design, drawings of ideas, sketches or photos etc. Every form of fashion and textile design all kinds of techniques are also welcome: drawings, sawings, or computer graphics, manual drawings, sketches, aquarelles, collages, paintings, works made by printmaking techniques, etc.
