Language Preparation Support
One of the key goals of the Erasmus+ program is to ensure that participants can confidently use the language of their host country during their studies or internship abroad. To support this, the European Commission provides an Online Language Support (OLS) system, helping participants prepare and improve their language skills.
What is OLS?
Online Language Support (OLS) is an online learning and language training platform designed for Erasmus+ participants. It offers:
• Placement test – Assess your proficiency in the language you will use during your mobility.
• Language courses – Available in:
- The language of your mobility, or
- Other languages offered on the OLS platform.
Important information about using OLS
- Mandatory placement test:
- All participants must complete the OLS placement test before their mobility, even if they have taken a similar test before.
- The only exception applies to those whose mobility takes place in their native language.
- Accessing OLS:
- Click HERE to join the new OLS platform.
- You can find a user guide on the Coospace platform.
Language courses at the host institution
Some host universities organize language courses for students before the start of the academic semester. Participation in these courses is:
• Optional but highly recommended for a smooth integration.
• Supported – You can apply for a grant to cover the duration of the language course as part of your Erasmus+ scholarship.
Why is language preparation important?
• Confidence in communication – Helps build academic and social connections.
• Cultural integration – Eases adaptation to everyday life in the host country.
• Professional development – Enhances specialized language skills valuable for your future career.
