SHORT DESCRIPTION


For a successful professional, having strong communication skills is an essential tool – for a successful professional in the media sciences, it is fundamental. The Communication and Media Studies Master’s program offers theoretical knowledge with a strong focus on practical, professional skills and competencies.

The educational program of the courses is strongly media-oriented, which is based on a thorough grounding in social and behavioral sciences and the present issues of intercultural communication.

The master’s program provides its students with theoretical knowledge, having a strong focus on practical and professional skills and competencies:


  1. The educational program of the courses is strongly media-oriented which is based on a thorough grounding in social and behavioral sciences.


  1. Complying with current social and labor market demands, the program integrates theories and methodologies of communication theory, media studies, political science, sociology, psychology and cultural studies within the field of social sciences, offering high-standard knowledge which can be put to profitable and practical use in various areas.


  1. The program includes one optional module: International Communication.


APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS


  1. Bachelor’s degree or above in any related field 
  2. GPA: overall above 50% 
  3. Upper-intermediate command of English (equivalent to IELTS 6.0+ or TOEFL 79+ level, but no certificate required)
STRUCTURE OF THE PROGRAM

During the two academic years, you will learn about social history, theories of representation, the anthropology of communication, new media theories, visual culture, media regulation theories and, the epistemological foundations of communication, deepening your skills in communication and media research.

During the second part of your studies, the program focuses more on international communication-related subjects.


SPECIALIZATION
  1. International Communication: 

By launching the International Communication module, we wish to train professionals who are able to perform entrepreneurial, networking and managerial tasks in various fields of international social and political relations based on their comprehensive knowledge and skills gained in the area of mass communication and intercultural communication, in addition to their excellent command of two foreign languages, both of which they can use for specific professional purposes.


CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

The graduates of the Communication and Media Studies Master’s program may find employment in a wide range of areas within the field of media and culture, including mass communication, traditional and electronic media, educational and cultural institutions, publishing houses and non-profit organizations. They may pursue a career in the distribution networks of cultural products, at convention and event organizing enterprises or local political organizations. Other regional bodies interested in social communication may count on the contribution of Communication MA graduates as well.

Furthermore, the thorough grounding in theoretical interdisciplinary studies makes our graduates eligible to continue their studies at doctoral programmes.
