Incoming Exchange students

Welcome to Budapest Metropolitan University!

This page is designed for students from our partner universities who are planning to spend a study abroad semester at METU.

Nomination and Application procedure for Guest Students at Budapest Metropolitan University (METU)

Students interested in participating in an exchange program (Erasmus+ or other) should first contact their home university’s international relations or Erasmus coordinator to confirm that their institution has an active bilateral agreement with Budapest Metropolitan University (METU) and available quotas in their field of study.

The home university must send the nomination request to the METU Incoming Team at incoming.erasmus@metropolitan.hu. The Incoming Team will then provide the Nomination Form.

Nomination deadlines:

  1. April 10 – for the Fall semester and full academic year
  2. October 23 – for the Spring semester

Application deadlines (after nomination):

  1. May 4 – for the Fall semester and full academic year
  2. November 16 – for the Spring semester

The International Coordination Office will notify the nominated student directly about the acceptance decision and provide details of the application procedure within one week after the nomination deadline closes.

Application procedure for Erasmus+ incoming students

After the nomination deadline, the students will receive information about the APPLICATION PROCEDURE on the DreamApply platform in the email indicated on the nomination sheet by the coordinator.

METU requires that the student have sufficient English language skills (reading, writing, listening, and speaking) equivalent to level B2 on the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) scale.

Students will be requested to submit proof of English Language Proficiency during the application.

Applicable proof: Proof could be the letter from the sending institution confirming the level of the English language proficiency (min. B2) of the student or Internationally recognized English Language Certificates

For the students who plan to apply to study at the Art faculty, it will be necessary to provide a PORTFOLIO before the application ends.

METU supports using Online Learning Agreement (OLA) system, and it must be signed from all three sides with the following order (Only for the Erasmus Students):

1.student

2.coordinator(s) at home university and

3.coordinator(s) at host university – METU

It is highly recommended before filling out the online learning agreement platform, students should discuss the subjects' choice with their home university coordinator to get approval and clarify the recognition part to avoid multiple changes in the system.

If the partner institution does not support the Online Learning Agreement platform, we recommend the students use the following Template.

Students can check the list of the subjects offered for programs:

  1. Business BA & MA
  2. Communication and International Relations BA & MA
  3. Tourism BA & MA
  4. Art BA & MA

An updated course list for all the programs is usually published by mid-March or mid-October (the dates might differ).

Before filling in the application form, please, ensure that you have all the required documents and information.

Guest students selected by their home universities to spend their mobility study period at the METU need to fill in and prepare the following documents:

  1. Guest Student Application form (by filling in the application form, which will be shared with the nominated students)
  2. Online Learning Agreement (OLA or Template)
  3. Proof of English Language Proficiency (Minimum B2)
  4. Portfolio (Art Students only)

Application documents from the student must be sent before the application deadline closure:

May – for the Fall semester and the whole academic year

November 23 – for the Spring semester

The International Coordination Office will send the Letter of Acceptance after the application deadline to the selected candidates to start enrollment at METU.
