Strengthening Academic Ties in South Korea – METU Expands Its Global Network

As part of METU’s commitment to building meaningful international partnerships, Dr. habil. Péter Rada, Vice Rector for International Affairs, visited South Korea to deepen cooperation with our esteemed Korean partner institutions.

🇰🇷 At Chung-Ang University, one of Korea’s most respected and dynamic institutions of higher learning, Dr. Rada held productive discussions with Dr. Suhan Woo, Vice President of International Affairs and the international team. We are proud to share that Chung-Ang University will send a faculty member to METU in the upcoming academic year in the frames of our Erasmus agreement — a promising step toward stronger academic collaboration.

METU also visited Hansung University, following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding in 2024. METU’s first visit tot he partner oand the meeting with David Kim, Director of International Programs confirmed the mutual intention to sign an Erasmus+ agreement, enabling student and faculty exchanges between our institutions. Hansung is known for its creative and forward-thinking approach to education — a perfect match for METU’s values.

Korea’s world-class higher education system offers innovation, excellence, and global relevance — making these partnerships especially valuable for METU’s community. These agreements not only open new horizons for our students and faculty to study and teach in Korea, but also make it possible to welcome Korean students and scholars to Budapest.

As one of the very few Hungarian universities offering Erasmus mobility opportunities to Korea, METU is proud to lead the way in fostering East–West academic connections that will benefit not only our institution, but the Hungarian higher education landscape as a whole.
