International Film Pitching Masterclass at METU

Sibylle Kurz, one of the international film industry’s most respected pitching trainers, and producer Márk Szilágyi, mentor and professional lead of the PITCH_IT international film training programme, delivered a two-day masterclass and workshop at Budapest Metropolitan University’s Department of Motion Picture.

Held on 12–13 October 2026, the programme was organised at the invitation of Diana Groó, Head of the Film and Media Studies BA programme, and Bojána Papp, Head of the TV MA programme. The masterclass attracted strong interest and introduced final-year students to pitching and project presentation techniques used in the international film industry.

Pitching involves presenting a film project to potential professional partners in a clear, concise and compelling way. During the workshop, students also had the opportunity to present their own graduation film projects and explore effective ways of communicating their ideas.

Sibylle Kurz has been teaching the art of pitching since 1995 and works as a trainer and consultant for film schools and institutions across Europe. Márk Szilágyi brought his experience in film production and international film training to METU’s students. The PITCH_IT programme, which he helps develop and deliver, supports emerging directors, screenwriters and producers as they take their first steps in the film industry.

The intensive two-day programme concluded in an inspiring professional atmosphere, receiving highly positive feedback and providing students with valuable experience in presenting their film projects.
