METU Successes on Hungarian Film Day
2026-05-04

On the occasion of Hungarian Film Day, the newly established awards of Hungarian film professional organizations were presented for the first time on April 30, 2026. The recognitions were founded by ten major film industry organizations with the aim of honoring the creators and professionals of Hungarian motion picture culture purely on a professional basis.
Several creators and professionals connected to Budapest Metropolitan University were among the award recipients:
- Fekete Ibolya: Film director and long-time visiting lecturer at METU, received the Zoltán Fábri Lifetime Achievement Award.
- Gyarmathy Lívia – Outstanding Film Artist Award: Among the recipients were film director Enyedi Ildikó, animation director Gauder Áron – both lecturers at METU – as well as sound engineer Rudolf Várhegyi, who has also been teaching in METU’s film programs for many years.
- Létay Vera Film Professional Award: Recipients included Melinda Kiss, Head of Department, and film aesthete György Báron, visiting lecturer at the Department of Motion Pictures.
These recognitions honor film professionals whose work has made a significant and high-quality contribution to Hungarian motion picture culture.
We are proud that METU lecturers, creators, and professionals connected to the university’s creative community are so strongly represented among the prestigious awards granted by Hungarian film industry organizations.
