METU Alumni–Student Mentoring: Support for Intentional Career Building

At Budapest Metropolitan University (METU), we are committed to helping students gain real labour-market insight, practical guidance, and a supportive community. As part of this mission, the Alumni–Student Mentoring programme connects current students with METU alumni who share their career lessons and help with the key steps of starting a career.

Why this matters

  1. Personalised support: mentor and mentee set goals together (e.g., refining portfolio/CV, interview preparation, exploring industry pathways).
  2. Market insight: first-hand, practical tips for employment in Hungary and abroad, career transitions, or entrepreneurship.
  3. Community & networking: inspiring alumni journeys, expanded professional network, and longer-term connections.

How it works

  1. Mentoring typically includes at least three meetings (online or in person) at mutually agreed times.
  2. Focus areas reflect student needs (programme and faculty specifics, industry trends, skill development).
  3. The Alumni Office coordinates the programme; matching considers study field/interests/career goals.

Participation framework

  1. To ensure a smooth collaboration, mentees are expected to participate actively and complete a minimum of three sessions.
  2. Alumni mentors volunteer their time in support of the METU community.
