METU Alumni Wine Tasting

On 27 November 2025, nearly 50 METU alumni and guests gathered at the Dining Hall of the METU Nagy Lajos király út Campus for the METU Alumni Autumn Wine Tasting. The aim of the event was to provide a relaxed and inspiring setting where former METU students could reconnect, strengthen professional ties, and build new personal and alumni relationships.

The evening was professionally hosted by Zoltán Heimann Jr., winemaker, who guided participants through a carefully selected tasting of 5–6 Hungarian wines. Each wine was introduced with a brief professional overview and paired with matching wine snacks. The guided tasting created space not only for learning about wine, but also for conversation, experience sharing, and informal networking. The programme was held in both Hungarian and English, enabling members of the international alumni community to actively participate.

Following the official welcome, the guided wine tasting was complemented by a casual networking session, during which former classmates reconnected and new alumni relationships were formed. The friendly and open atmosphere was clearly reflected in participants’ feedback after the event.

According to the post-event survey, feedback was overwhelmingly positive. Several participants highlighted that “events like this should be organised more often.” Willingness to attend similar alumni events in the future was particularly high: participants rated their likelihood of returning with an average score of 4.61, and 72.22% gave the highest possible rating of 5. Regarding the preferred frequency of such events, the majority (66.67%) indicated that a quarterly schedule would be ideal.

The METU Alumni Wine Tasting once again demonstrated the value of high-quality, in-person community events in strengthening alumni engagement. The strong participation, positive feedback, and high intention to return provide a solid foundation for continuing and expanding similar alumni programmes in the future.
