Positive experiences in online learning

From Aisha, METU Environmental Design – BA student

As a third-year student, my experience of distance learning was not the worst, I wasn’t disappointed with METU.

As the educational process has greatly evolved through engagement with technology, the "online" educational experience has added to the student the ease of having more time to communicate with instructors outside of the limited lecture time to utilize their expertise in all subjects. And they were always helpful with any questions we had.

Online education has not negatively affected our receptivity either, we have received the lectures at the time convenient for us and this indicates the cooperation of the IT unit of the college with the students to facilitate services and solve their problems. It was easy to take care of matters.

And even during the Corona crisis, the university provided us with the training we needed and every opportunity to develop, but carefully to stay healthy.

University-life balance

I'm a second-year student, so I started my studies during the pandemic and my college year was online from the beginning.

I had the best experience, the university organised everything very well, and the professors were very helpful and understood that we were all facing a new challenge. I finished my first year by moving back home to my family, but I did well.

I prefer online education to offline; I could attend my lectures from anywhere, I had free time to do other things besides university. I could better manage my daily life.

So overall, I benefited a lot from the online education period, learning how to use new software and programs, how to communicate with people digitally, how to actually learn new things, how to research a topic even more independently and all this with the help of the university who supported us with all the necessary data, schedules, information, etc.
