Erasmus Traineeship
General Requirements:
- You must be enrolled at METU as a full-time or part-time student in a BA, MA, Higher Education Vocational Training, or Postgraduate Training program.
- You must have active student status at the time of application, which must remain active throughout the entire Erasmus+ period. More details on active student status:

- The internship must be relevant to your field of study and contribute to your professional development.
- You can spend a maximum of 12 months per study cycle (BA or MA) on an Erasmus+ scholarship abroad. This can be combined with a study mobility grant.
- The planned internship duration must be at least 2 months and up to 12 months within your current study cycle/level.
- You must have completed at least one semester at the time of application and two semesters before departure (not required for MA students).
- Your weighted GPA must be at least 3.0 for the two active semesters preceding the application. (If you have only one completed semester, your GPA from that semester will be considered.)
- For MA students, the BA diploma GPA will be considered in the first semester.
- You can also complete an internship during your final semester.
- You must have the necessary language skills required by the chosen company or organization (typically at least B2 level).
Graduates can also apply for an Erasmus+ internship within 1 year of graduation under the following conditions:
- Active student status is only required at the time of application and contract signing.
- The internship must be completed within 12 months of graduation.
- The application must be submitted at least 2 months before obtaining the final certificate (absolutorium). The contract must also be signed while still holding active student status.

It is entirely your responsibility to find a suitable internship placement, including organizing the placement and arranging the professional program. While this may seem like a challenging task, it gives you the flexibility to choose the most suitable internship for your needs.
Your internship can take place at any active private or public institution, company, SME, research institute, cultural organization, or higher education institution outside Hungary. Exceptions include EU institutions and agencies, as well as National Erasmus+ Agencies.
Eligible destination countries include all EU member states (except Hungary), as well as Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Turkey.

Successful applicants will receive financial support based on the cost of living in the host country:
- Group 1 (Higher cost of living): Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, as well as non-associated third countries in Regions 13 and 14. 750 EUR/month
- Group 2 (Medium cost of living): Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Greece, Latvia, Malta, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain. 750 EUR/month
- Group 3 (Lower cost of living): Bulgaria, North Macedonia, Croatia, Poland, Lithuania, Hungary, Romania, Serbia, Turkey. 690 EUR/month

One-time Travel Grant
Travel Green for Distances Under 500 km!
What Qualifies as an Eco-Friendly Mode of Transport?
The following are considered green travel options:
- Train
- Long-distance buses
- Bicycle
- Carpooling (when the car is shared among multiple travelers)
Important! Airplanes and ships do not qualify as eco-friendly transport. Using these modes of travel disqualifies you from receiving the green travel grant.
Applications must be submitted by completing a questionnaire on Coospace and uploading the required documents. Students can apply four times per academic year: twice in the spring semester and twice in the fall semester.

- Proof of B2-level language proficiency in the working language of the host institution. This can be verified through:
- A language exam certificate
- Certification from the Institute of Foreign Languages
- A copy of an advanced-level high school graduation certificate
- Motivation Letter (in English or Hungarian, depending on the working language). The letter should focus on how the international experience contributes to your studies and career plans. The emphasis should be on professional aspects, not personal reasons.
- Learning Agreement for Traineeship – fully completed ‘Before the Mobility’ section:
- For voluntary internships, signed by the student and the host institution.
- For mandatory internships, signed by the student, the Career Center, and the host institution.
- Additional language certificates (if another language is required by the host institution).

Applications submitted before the deadline and meeting formal requirements will be evaluated by the METU International Committee, considering the submitted documents and available Erasmus+ funds.
Scoring System:
- Motivation Letter (25 points)
- Content: Clearly explain how the selected institution supports your professional development.
- Structure: Meets the required length, is logically structured, and well-organized.
- Language Proficiency (10 points)
- Academic Performance (10 points)
- Based on the weighted GPA of the last two completed semesters
- Additional Activities (5 points)
- TDK, OTDK, international academic competitions, exhibitions, mentoring (buddy program), Erasmus+ promotion, etc.
Total: 50 Points
Evaluation is documented on an assessment sheet. Applicants will receive written notification regarding the selection results.

- Active student status throughout the entire mobility period (except for recent graduate traineeships).
- A valid European Union health insurance card or other relevant health insurance. Non-Hungarian citizens must have health insurance from an independent provider; Medicover insurance is not valid outside Hungary.
- A valid liability insurance OR a statement from the host institution confirming that it is not required.
- A valid student visa, if required in the given country.
- A ‘Learning Agreement for Traineeships’ signed by all parties.
- If the student has previously participated in an Erasmus mobility program, they cannot exceed the maximum 12-month allocation per study cycle as awarded in the current call for applications.
- A completed and signed Step by Step Guide.
- Proof of bank details required for the transfer.
To proceed with contracting, complete the Traineeship Contracting Form in Coospace and schedule an appointment for the contract signing.
It is the student's individual responsibility to ensure the validity of personal documents and to obtain any necessary certifications, IDs, or permits required for the mobility.
The presence of all the listed documents is mandatory for contract signing. Travel is only permitted with a Grant Agreement signed by both parties. Contract signing must be done in person. Mobility is only possible if the current health situation allows it. Further information can be found on the TKA website.
The internship period spent at the host institution/company must be fully recognized at METU if it is a mandatory internship. Information regarding mandatory internships is available at METU Career Center.
Requirements for the Completion of Mobility:
The student must have no outstanding tuition fees or other financial obligations toward METU.
To finalize the mobility, the following documents must be submitted after returning but no later than 30 days from receiving the Certificate of Study Period:
- Certificate of Study Period (minimum of 60 days for internships), specifying the exact start and end dates of the mobility, issued by the host institution.
- Learning Agreement After the Mobility (for internships).
- The final version of the Learning Agreement, signed by all parties.
- Proof of active student status for the entire Erasmus mobility period (except for post-graduate internships).
- A written report (1-2 pages, minimum 500 words).
- Recognition of credits obtained abroad at METU (for mandatory internships).
- Completion of the EU Survey.
- If you wish to cancel your mobility, please email erasmus@metropolitan.hu as soon as possible!
- Erasmus+ also helps develop independent problem-solving skills. We are here to assist if you get stuck, but we cannot solve difficulties on your behalf.
- Start collecting the required documents for the Grant Agreement in time!
- The Grant Agreement cannot be signed if the Learning Agreement for Traineeships is incorrectly or incompletely filled out.
- If you have previously participated in an Erasmus+ mobility program, make sure to indicate it in the Step-by-Step Guide.
- The bank details required for the grant transfer can be obtained from your bank.
Students must first consult with the host institution about the possibility of extending their mobility.
To request an extension, students must email their request as soon as possible, but no later than one month before the end of their current mobility. The request must include:
- The official extension request form, completed and signed by both the student and the host institution (available on Coospace and the website).
- A recommendation letter from the host institution.
METU will decide on the extension at the end of the ongoing application period, based on the submitted documents and the available project funding.
