For any questions, please contact us at: erasmus@metropolitan.hu

Applications can be submitted by filling out the following questionnaire: https://forms.office.com/e/Q6izLd5vq2?origin=lprLink

Conditions

  1. The applicant must be a full-time, part-time, adjunct, or volunteer instructor, or a full-time administrative employee at the Budapest Metropolitan University.
  2. The applicant must have the necessary language skills for the planned teaching or participation in the training.
  3. The applicant must have the approval of their direct supervisor to participate in the mobility – coordination with the supervisor is required before submitting the application.
  4. In order to support as many participants as possible, the main rule is that only mobility lasting up to 5 working days can be supported, and support can be granted once per semester.
  5. To ensure the effective use of funding and the diversification of mobilities, the review of applications may be influenced by the chosen destination and institution. If the institution to be visited has already been visited by 3 employees in the same semester, the International Committee cannot support the application. It is recommended to consult with the International Coordination Office staff regarding the destination choice before applying.
  6. Weekend days – except in special cases – are not accepted as activity days, and they can only be supported if the professional program falls on the weekend and this can be justified.

Types of Mobility

  1. Teaching Mobility

A minimum of 8 hours of teaching over 5 working days. If you spend more than 5 working days abroad, the required number of teaching hours increases proportionally.

  1. Training Mobility

Networking, learning about similar roles and structures at other universities, gathering experience, mapping best practices, job shadowing, participation in staff weeks, etc.

As a lecturer, you can also participate in training mobility, and in this case, you do not have to teach during your time abroad.

IMPORTANT: Participation in a conference cannot be supported by the Erasmus+ program.

Where?

Erasmus+ support can only be applied for activities within Europe.

In case of activities outside Europe, a separate call will be issued.

The METU’s educational mobility partners can be found here.

We also recommend the Teaching Mobility page.

The METU’s training mobility partners can be found here.

You can participate in an organized International Staff Week by choosing from options here: http://staffmobility.eu/staff-week-search. These are typically one-week events organized around various professional topics, offering networking opportunities, cultural programs, and knowledge expansion. The site is international, so you’ll have the chance to meet other participants with similar interests. This opportunity is especially interesting for staff but is also available for lecturers.

Additionally, you can travel to any higher education institution with an ECHE (European Charter for Higher Education) based on an individual agreement.

Please note that in case of direct contact with the host institution, communication and email exchanges may take longer. It may also happen that there is no capacity to host the staff member. Please take these factors into account when planning the dates for your mobility.

Travel Support

Based on the distance of the applied institution. The calculation is based on the distance determined by the official Erasmus Distance Calculator. This is a flat rate, so it is not per direction.

Travel under 500 km? Go green!

What counts as a green mode of transport?

Green travel modes include:

  1. Train
  2. Long-distance buses
  3. Bicycle
  4. Carpooling (when the car is used by multiple passengers)

Important! Airplanes and ships are not considered green travel modes, so using these transport means will disqualify you from receiving the support.

The living allowance is provided for the days spent working abroad, which must be supported by a participation certificate. In addition, we provide an extra 2 days of living allowance for the day before the first day of work abroad and the day after the last day of work abroad. Regardless of this, it is possible to travel earlier or return later, but no support is provided for additional days.

In order to support as many participants as possible, the main rule is that we can only support mobilities of a maximum of 5 working days, and one mobility per semester can be applied for.

Please note that the Erasmus support is only a contribution to the travel costs and may not cover all your expenses.

The support amount can be used for anything; no accounting is required, and no invoices need to be submitted.

If there is any participation fee (e.g., workshop fee), the support amount will also contribute to that; we cannot provide separate funding for this (usually requested for organized Staff Weeks).

Once your travel is confirmed, you can start booking accommodation and purchasing flight tickets even before the support amount arrives. However, please consider that if the trip fails due to reasons other than force majeure, we cannot reimburse already incurred expenses.

Additional Support Options

Erasmus+ additional support for participants with disabilities or health conditions

Support is available for students and staff with disabilities or chronic health conditions who have received an Erasmus+ mobility grant. Applications for this support can be made as specified in the current call.

  1. Contact the host institution or apply for the Staff Week. Contacting the institution may take more time in the case of individual destinations, so make sure to factor this in when planning your travel date.
  2. Clarify details with the host institution, and if needed, pay the participation fee (mostly applies to Staff Week cases).
  3. Complete the Mobility Agreement, ensuring all sections are filled out. Signatures from both the participant and the host institution are required.
