Budapest Metropolitan University and the Tempus Public Foundation are announcing a call for applications for additional financial support for students and staff with disabilities or long-term illnesses participating in the Erasmus+ program

Who can apply?

Applications are open to:

  1. Students or staff who are already eligible for equal opportunity support under another criterion, such as economic hardship, and who also have a disability or chronic illness.
  2. Those for whom a disability or chronic illness results in additional costs significantly exceeding €250 per month in the host country.

The aim of this support is to ensure equal opportunities for participants requiring special care in the Erasmus+ program within the higher education sector.

Eligibility Criteria
  1. Erasmus+ students and staff awarded an Erasmus+ grant who have a disability or chronic illness that verifiably incurs additional expenses during their stay abroad, compared to average living costs. This includes, but is not limited to, individuals with visual, mobility, or hearing impairments, diabetes, lactose or gluten intolerance, or other medical conditions.

  1. The additional financial support can be requested to cover clearly defined additional costs directly related to mobility, including travel, accommodation, or specific needs arising from the disability or chronic illness. Only expenses that cannot be covered by any other Erasmus+ funding source and without which participation in mobility would be impossible are eligible.

  1. Note: Those classified under "Health-Related Barriers" can apply for Equal Opportunity Support if their expected costs do not significantly exceed €250 per month. In such cases, no detailed expense breakdown is required—only proof of need, such as a medical certificate or psychological evaluation.

  1. Note: The additional financial support does not cover regular living expenses (e.g., food, daily necessities, medication) unless these costs significantly exceed what they would be in Hungary due to the disability or chronic illness.

Applications must be submitted via email to erasmus@metropolitan.hu using the designated application form.
