Call for Equal Opportunities Additional Financial Support for Students Participating in Erasmus+ Mobility 

The purpose of the equal opportunities support is to provide additional financial assistance to students facing health, educational, cultural, social, economic, or geographical barriers, enabling them to participate in Erasmus+ mobility programs with a higher chance of success. Applications should be submitted to erasmus@metropolitan.hu along with the required documents. Support cannot be requested retroactively for ongoing or completed mobilities during the application period.

Who can apply?

Students who are enrolled at METU as active students and are applying for or have been accepted into a study, internship, or short-term mobility program. 

Eligible for equal opportunities support are: 


Health-related barriers 

  1. Students with disabilities or long-term illnesses participating in the mobility program. 


Barriers related to education and training systems 

  1. Students enrolled in evening or correspondence programs. 
  2. Students who are considered disadvantaged or multiply disadvantaged and have received additional points at the time of application. 


Socially vulnerable groups 

  1. Students belonging to a nationally or ethnically recognized minority in Hungary (e.g., Roma). 
  2. Hungarian students living as a minority in their country of origin abroad. 
  3. Students with refugee status recognized by the Hungarian state. 


Social barriers 

  1. Students whose parents/guardians do not have a secondary school education. 
  2. Students whose parents/guardians are in a vulnerable social situation. 
  3. Students who are or have been part of the state care system: students raised in children’s homes, group homes, or foster care, or those who have received aftercare services. 
  4. Orphaned or half-orphaned students. 
  5. Students living in large families (the applicant has two or more siblings living in the same household). 


Economic difficulties 

  1. Students receiving the Bursa Hungarica Scholarship for studies. 
  2. Students receiving regular or extraordinary social scholarships. 
  3. Students who have been beneficiaries of the HÖOK Mentoring Program. 
  4. Students who have been recipients of the “Path to Higher Education” – “Path to a Degree” scholarship program. 
  5. Former members of the Roma College. 
  6. Students who received social-based school-starting support at the start of their higher education studies. 
  7. Students who have received support in the János Arany Talent Development Program. 
  8. Students who have experienced a sudden change in their social circumstances (e.g., the death of a provider, unemployment, long-term illness, or accident). 
  9. Students who are employed but expect to experience a loss of income during the mobility period due to their foreign studies or internship. 
  10. Students participating in self-financed programs at the time of the application. 


Geographical barriers 

  1. Residents of the towns designated as beneficiaries by Government Decree 105/2015 (IV. 23.). 

Amount

The amount of the Support is 250 euros per month for both study and traineeship mobility. 

For short-term student mobility, the available amount is a one-time payment of 100 euros (for mobilities lasting 1-14 days) or 150 euros (for mobilities lasting 15-30 days). 

The "Equal Opportunities Support" can be applied for simultaneously with the "Additional Financial Support for Students with Disabilities or Long-Term Illnesses." In this case, the rules of the "Additional Financial Support for Students with Disabilities or Long-Term Illnesses" apply to the amount exceeding 250 euros, which can be found HERE: https://www.metubudapest.hu/erasmus-financial-grant-for-disabled-or-chronically-ill-students-or-colleagues


How?

Applications can be submitted in multiple periods. The start and end dates of the application periods are determined by the Tempus Public Foundation. In the spring period, students can apply for supplementary support for autumn mobility, and in the autumn period, they can apply for spring mobility. Applications can be submitted for both study and internship mobility. 

The periods will be announced by the International Coordination Office in the METU Newsletter and via Neptun messages, and they can also be found on the Tempus Public Foundation's website by clicking on the "Application Call" link. 

The application must be submitted to the Erasmus coordinator at Budapest Metropolitan University, via email to erasmus@metropolitan.hu.
